The Power of the Human Brain

There is a tiny, yet very powerful and complicated organ that forms part of your body. It is surrounded by blood vessels called the brain capillaries and it weighs 1.5kg. The cerebrum is divided into two hemispheres which are connected to each other by a bundle of nerves known as corpus callosum(509). This brain has many parts including the limbic system, the hypothalamus, hippocampus etc (Borjas et al 3). And so on likening this human brain with a computer will be unjustified because no computer can mimic the huge amount of parallel processing power which humans have.

Your mind is an extremely strong instrument contained in your skull with around 86 billion nerve cells that communicate through more than trillions of synapses giving rise to thoughts and emotions. With only 2% of your total body weight, still it uses about 20% of all the energy consumed by our systems for each day. This immense computational capacity enables us to perform various functions such as thinking critically, solving problems or experiencing different kinds of sensations and emotions in life. This knowledge clearly reveals that we are much less acquainted with our minds than what we think we do.

Some million neurons make up numerous neural networks in my head that form pathways within the central nervous system leading to my muscles, organs etcetera making me who I am while growing up from childhood...
